Mission:

This position is responsible for the planning, implementing and operating the WFS EMEAA Safety Management System (SMS) including Aviation Safety and Employee’s Safety.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Designs, implements, and manages the operation of the Safety Management System
  • Works with WFS stakeholders to implement Manual, Policies, Standards, training materials and controls to support a culture of Safety
  • Models and promotes an organizational culture that fosters safety practices through effective leadership
  • Is Involved in the development and updating of emergency response plans and procedures
  • Ensures regional Safety related Manuals are aligned with other applicable global/regional manuals (e.g., Cargo Handling Manual, Global Security Standard, GOM…)
  • Ensures that Safety risk assessments are conducted when applicable and establishes/leads key risk reduction initiatives
  • Administers any safety-related surveys at regional level
  • Oversees Regional Safety Audit Program in partnership with EMEAA internal audit team
  • Analyzes safety information in a timely manner
  • Provides EMEAA Safety metrics/program performance monitoring and reporting to applicable business.
  • Monitors and evaluates the results of corrective actions using Pulse
  • Ensuring safety-related information, including organization goals and objectives, are made available to all personnel through established communication processes.
  • Work closely with communication team and training departments to develop Safety promotion
  • Develops/maintains strong and positive working relationships with airlines, customers, regulators, professional bodies, external experts, and WFS internal and external stakeholders
  • Monitors the industry for safety concerns that could affect WFS
  • Mentors/develops WFS Safety professionals, optimizes the competences of local Safety experts
  • Liaise with other regional Safety experts representatives (North America, Brazil) to align SMS strategies

 

Qualifications:

  • Full-time experience in Aviation Safety/Occupational Health in the capacity of an aviation safety investigator, safety/ quality manager or safety risk manager
  • Sound knowledge of the WFS‘s operations, procedures and activities
  • Broad aviation technical knowledge
  • Extensive knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS)
  • An understanding of Risk Management principles and techniques to support the SMS
  • Experience implementing and/or managing SMS
  • Experience in writing SMS Manuals
  • Experience and qualifications in accident/ incident investigation and human factors
  • Experience and qualifications in conducting safety/ quality audits and inspections
  • Sound knowledge of aviation regulatory frameworks, including ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPS), relevant Civil Aviation Regulations and ISAGO
  • Computer literacy and superior analytical skills
